So you want to learn how to DJ? Local dance-music collective Club Jewelz will be facilitating conversations with three Boorloo-based DJs as a part of the 2022 Kickstart Festival to chat all things mixing. We'll be finding out about their recommendations for beginner equipment when they first got behind the decks and some of their favourite dance floor memories.
YUCK Circus are an award-winning circus company championing the female voice born and bred in Western Australia. To complement the visual artworks, weight/wait will feature a recorded discussion with mentor Aisyah Sumito, curator Maya Quinn and the participating artists. Its purpose is to provide an opportunity for varying contributors to share, question and discuss the thematic underpinnings of the exhibition for visitors and all interested parties. The conversation will engage the artist’s in discussing the materiality of their pieces in conjunction with gendered ideas about ‘women’s work’. Other focal points will open a dialogue about the grey-area between art-making as an act of resistance and reclamation.
