Join Ryan in observing Perth one drawing at a time. It becomes easy to take our surroundings for granted as soon as we become familiar with them. Through drawing on location in the city we live in, we are able to form new connections with places and spaces, and perhaps even strike a conversation with a friendly passer-by. 'Quick on the Draw' is open to participants of all ages and skill levels. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own sketchbooks and any other art materials they are already comfortable with using. Basic equipment will be provided.

About Ryan Naga
Ryan Naga is a visual artist working with graphite on paper. His work revolves around yet transcends his identity(ies) – a Malaysian person of Chinese descent and an international student in Western Australia. He derives his creativity from collaborations and intersections between people across countries, and is constantly in awe at the universality of these experiences. Ryan works from the perspective of a young person of colour looking at a space from the outside in – exploring themes of nostalgia, eagerness, and ‘home’ as an idea rather than a physical location.
Ryan works between Australia and Malaysia, actively participating in art events and facilitating workshops. In 2022, Ryan was involved in artist residencies with the Red Earth Arts Festival, Cool Change Contemporary, AWESOME Arts WA, and curated his second solo show at Hin Bus Depot, Malaysia. Ryan worked as a visual arts coordinator for Pigeonhole Perth's FLOCK Festival 2022.
